Tenochtitlan

Tenochtitlan was the capitol city of the Aztec Empire. At the time of the Spanish conquest it was believed to have a population of 200,000, far exceeding any of the cities in Europe at the time. Very little remains of the city because the Spanish destroyed the city to build what today has become Mexico City. (Bahn, 1999)
